Time Period: Pokemon: Jhoto League Champions. Post 'Imitation Confrontation'.
Wing Color: Pink.
History: DITTO used TRANSFORM!
Personality:
Duplica puts greats effort into becoming a star. When it's mentioned that Duplica would make an amazing Pokemon master she replies that that isn't one of her aims. She strives to be a 'Ditto master' as well as to become famous. The passion she has for becoming a successful performer are shown with each of her impressions, imitations and the magic she displays. Duplica is capable of imitating a wide variety of voices without fail, showing that she is capable of copying both Ash and Misty's voices as well as Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny's. Her imitations are incredibly accurate and with the wide variety of clothes at her disposal Duplica has shown she is able to imitate any person based on how they dress. Without knowing Ash, Misty and Brock would be visiting the House of Imite beforehand Duplica is still able to put together an Ash costume to surprise him when he first meets her Ditto. Not only that but she is later able to dress up as Misty as well as Team Rocket. Duplica can also use magic like being able to make her costumes and props appear instantly in her hand or being able to put together a quick change routine simply by diving through a rack full of clothes or swinging herself around a pillar in a Pokemon centre. All these abilities come together to make Duplica an incredibly convincing imitator. Obviously as Duplica cannot adjust her height it can be, at times, easy to spot when you're speaking to her and not the subject of her imitations. She also does not copy the eye colour of her subject as her eyes are always red no matter which costume she puts on. Despite being unable to compensate for her height or invest in coloured contacts, come her second appearance she had been invited to Jhoto by the Pokemon Council for Performing Arts to take part in the Pokemon Acting Competition. To be invited to another region for the sake of an acting competition shows how successful Duplica must have become in her time working at the House of Imite after having reopened it when she first parts with Ash, Brock and Misty.
As well as being able to imitate people, Duplica is also able to imitate Pokemon as well. She particularly enjoys doing this as a part of her entertainment routine for those who come to rest at the House of Imite. She's able to copy a Pokemon's facial expression and make use costumes and props to pull off an amusing imitation which crowds seem to love.
Overall Duplica is shown to be a cheery and happy individual. She's very welcoming to travellers who visit her House of Imite for a rest. In fact the reason she first opened the House of Imite was so she could entertain and put on a show for any passers-by who might decide to drop in. Through her time spent with Ash. Misty and Brock she's often seen smiling when not trying to find and fighting with Team Rocket.
Brock at one point mentions that in order for Duplica to be a successful Ditto trainer she must know every potential move of every Pokemon there is. Not only that but Misty then adds that Duplica must know every single move out there and that Duplica must have studied extensively to have gained that knowledge. Though she's modest when it comes to her intellect, Duplica has shown in multiple battles that she knows every move and Pokemon can learn. She's able to command her Ditto to use vine whip when it is transformed into a Bulbasaur, as well as a wide variety of moves when it is transformed into a Totodile. Furthermore when battling Jessie with her Ditto and Mini-Dit, Duplica knows that Wobuffet knows more attacks than just counter, namely mirror coat, as well as knowing which move is best used in different situations. Whilst battling with Jessie she even goes as far as to taunt Jessie, saying she's too afraid to attack her Mini-Dit which had currently transformed into Wobuffet, planning to use its Counter and Mirror Coat attacks to retaliate when Jessie inevitably commander her Pokemon to attack. As she's able to quickly adapt to different strategies depending on the Pokemon Ditto has transformed into, Duplica is shown to be resourceful and observant enough to be able to calculate which move would work best. Her observant behaviour crosses over into her own imitations as well. Without even meeting Ash formally she is able to pull off a perfect imitation of him which leaves Misty baffled. Duplica perfectly copies Ash's mannerisms and personality with very little to go off, even being able to copy the whole 'watch as a twist my hat around wow I am such a badass trainer' bit Ash does as he battles.
As a Ditto's strength lies in its trainer's knowledge and own ability, Duplica works hard to ensure her Pokemon will always be able to work and fight to their full potential. She's very knowledgeable when it comes to what Ditto is and isn't capable of. Her training style is kind and loving, choosing not to resort to more rough or harsh methods of training that the likes of Team Rocket use (though ultimately it's Team Rocket that are able to teach her Ditto how to properly transform through using scare tactics and threats). She's frequently seen holding her Dittos in her arms or hugging them and is never shown calling either of her Ditto out from their pokeballs. It's clear she strives to do her best for her Ditto, exhausting all methods she knows to help her Ditto learn how to properly transform before Team Rocket steals it away. Duplica is able to spot her Ditto when it has transformed into another Pokemon, even when the transformation is completely flawless and it's otherwise impossible to tell the two Pokemon apart based on sight alone. At one point Duplica even mentions that she wouldn't be much of a trainer if she couldn't see through her Ditto's transformation. During her second appearance when Team Rocket steals her Mini-Dit, Duplica explains that Mini-Dit played along with Team Rocket's plan as it knew Duplica would come and find it, 'that's what happens when a great trainer trains a great Pokemon'.
If someone expresses disbelief in Ditto's skills then Duplica is happy to prove otherwise by battling or showing off the power her Ditto possesses some other way. Both times she battles with Ash she does so in order to prove her Ditto is capable enough to hold its own in battle. The first time Duplica and Ash battle is so Duplica can show off Ditto's 'real power' after Ash mentioned only having access to one attack makes Ditto a boring Pokemon. The second time is so Duplica can prove what her Mini-Dit lacks in size it can more than make up for in strength. She's confident enough in her Pokemon that she believes it might only take one move to finish off the opponent and during her first battle with Ash she's able to immobilise his Bulbasaur with one vine whip.
At times Duplica can be childish and teasing, jokingly referring to Ash as 'Ashy Boy' during their first meeting, though she only seems to do this with those less experienced than her when it comes to Pokemon or those who are ignorant about Ditto. She never refers to Misty or Brock in such a manner and come their second meeting Duplica never refers to Ash by the nickname she gave him the first time they met. This might be because it's Ash that points out during their second meeting that Duplica's Mini-Dit is like having 'every Pokemon in one' and that she knows every single attack out there so she can adapt to any situation, proving he's learn more and understands Ditto better than the first time they saw each other.
Duplica is annoyed by trainers who write off Ditto as a one trick pony, quickly jumping to defend her Ditto when Ash claims its boring for only be able to transform. She comments that 'that's what everyone says who doesn't understand Ditto's real power'. Furthermore she expects other trainers to put in as much effort and care as she does into her Pokemon, lecturing Ash on how he should work harder and that it's his responsibility to teach Totodile more attacks. If her Ditto are in danger then Duplica becomes properly angry. When Team Rocket trick her by handing her Meowth instead of Ditto which had transformed, Duplica angrily states that it isn't her Ditto and throws Meowth at Team Rocket's hot air balloon like it's nothing.
Whilst she's annoyed when people downplay Ditto for its powers Duplica is instead saddened when her Ditto are called weird or wacky. Misty comments that Duplica catches 'the most abnormal Pokemon ever', leading to her becoming depressed by this. She recovers by saying Duplica's Ditto are instead versatile and 'squishy' though it doesn't make much difference until Ash cheers her up. Additionally, Duplica is understandably upset when her Ditto are taken from her. She feels at a complete loss for what to do without them and is visibly distressed by this. Even with Ash and his friends comforting her she still appears down.
Strengths:
Duplica is a perfectly healthy human being without any powers of her own, her strengths lie with her two Ditto, one of which is nicknamed Mini-Dit. Her first Ditto is capable of transforming normally whilst Mini-Dit has trouble transforming into larger Pokemon. When Mini-Dit transforms into Onix it is still small enough for Misty to hold it in her hands. Despite the difference in height this does not affect Mini-Dit's strength. 'Your Wobuffet may be bigger, but my Mini-Dit Wobuffet is ten times stronger!' As Duplica only has two Pokemon both of her Ditto will be accompanying her to Luceti.
Ditto are able to reorganize their cells and copy the genetic code of enemies so they can transform into duplicates of objects, animals and so on. Duplica's Ditto is shown to transform into many different Pokemon and at one point even turns itself into a copy of Team Rocket's cannon, later using itself to fire Pikachu towards Team Rocket's balloon. As it copies other enemies exactly Ditto gains all the strengths that its target would have, being able to imitate every aspect of it perfectly. Ditto are also capable of transforming from memory, shown when Duplica asks her Ditto to turn into a Pikachu for her without Ash's Pikachu being nearby at the time for Ditto to copy.
Through studying Duplica has been able to learn every move there is out there that Pokemon can know. She knows the potential moves any Pokemon can have and then plans accordingly for the battle ahead. Rather than matching Ash's Bulbasaur with another razor leaf she orders Ditto to use vine whip, catching Ash and Bulbasaur off guard. She's able to adapt to each of Ditto's transformations no matter what they might be, such as making use of Wobuffet's counter and mirror coat attacks, ordering her Ditto to transform into Noctowl to help with searching for Mini-Dit and having Ditto transform into a cannon to combat Team Rocket's own. This shows that Duplica can not only adapt to different Pokemon and transformations in battle but she's also able to do the same in other situations too.
Duplica has complete faith in her Ditto and her abilities as an aspiring 'Ditto master' and rising star. Similarly, her Ditto have faith in her, trusting her to come and find them when Team Rocket end up stealing them and playing along with their plans for their own safety. She works hard towards finding more varieties of Ditto, as well as following along with her aim of becoming a star and competing in acting and play competitions at the same time.
Weaknesses:
Duplica is susceptible to illness like any other normal human and she lacks any super powers. Her Ditto, whilst able to take on the strengths of their targets, also have to take on their weaknesses too. If her Ditto aren't able to transform then there's very little she can do but wait for an opening to command her Ditto transform as Ditto possess no other moves than the ability to transform. Furthermore, though there is a strong link between the strength of a Ditto and it's trainer, ultimately the Ditto is only as strong as its subject. When commanding her Ditto to use Hydro Pump as a Totodile the attack ends up failing as Ash's Totodile does not know the move himself, resulting in Duplica having to command Ditto to use a weaker attack.
Though Duplica knows any move out there she has only been able to visit Jhoto so far during her travels. Her knowledge of other Pokemon from different regions and the moves they possess will be completely new to her, making it difficult for her to adapt quickly when met with a Pokemon or move she isn't familiar with. Despite Duplica knowing all the potential moves of every Pokemon that knowledge is useless if a Pokemon hasn't been trained enough to know the attacks she would expect it know, such as expecting Ash's Totodile to know Hydro Pump.
Both of her Ditto's are a big part of her life, not only being her friends but her performance partners too. She's easily upset when they're stolen away from her and exhausts every training technique she knows in order to try teaching her Ditto how to transform properly as Duplica is put out knowing her Ditto can't change its face and reach its full potential. When Duplica is reunited with her Ditto and learns it has overcome its problem when transforming she becomes teary eyed and incredibly thankful towards Team Rocket, despite them stealing her Ditto in the first place.

First Person:
Hello and welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to a wonderful new show! I'm the amazing Duplica and these are my assistants. Say hello to Ditto and Mini-Dit!
[Though it's over the journals, Duplica is still giving her all the brighten the moods of everyone in the enclosure. After that particularly nasty experiment a little and rest and some fun to brighten things up should be perfect!]
First up we would all like to thank you for opening your journals and watching us today, we hope to give you a performance that you will remember. Isn't that right? [Both Dittos nod and bounce around in agreement.] Hehe, it seems my Ditto are ready to go so let's get things started!
[The 'show' consists of Duplica donning various outfits of Pokemon and her Dittos copying each of her own imitations. At one point she puts on a brown cap and a big red nose, meaning for her impression to be that of a Diglett, but when both of her Ditto follow along...]
Oh! It looks like our Diglett has evolved into a Dugtrio! [Duplica smiles at the journal, giving it a wave as both of her Ditto turn back into their pink, squishy selves.] That's all for today, thank you again! The amazing Duplica and her equally amazing Ditto will be back again soon. We hope you enjoyed the show!
[The Ditto cry out happily as Duplica moves to close her journal for the day. They hope you enjoyed their little show too!]
Third Person:
Now her Pokemon have had issues with transforming in the past. It took some time but eventually her first Ditto overcame its difficulties and learnt how to transform properly! Being taken to a completely new world seems to have presented another problem for her Ditto to tackle. Dressed in a Nurse Joy outfit, Duplica stands next to her Ditto, talking to it in a friendly tone and asking it to transform into another Nurse Joy for her.
The transformation seems to go well at first. Ditto even seems to be able to imitate the kind and caring speech of Nurse Joy, after Duplica had provided a few examples of what Nurse Joy should say that is. Everything seems to be spot on, save for one little detail.
Ditto's transformation completely lacks wings, the little wings everyone seemed to have on their backs around the enclosure.
Back home this would never have been an issue. Here though it was something that should be addressed. Not everyone hid their wings under their clothing, some people liked the show their wings off and flap them around! It was posing a big enough problem for Duplica, seeing as she had to take into account wing colour into her imitations along with speech, clothing and everything else she needed to work on to make her imitations just right. She taps her foot whilst thinking of a way to help Ditto learn how to add wings onto some of its transformations...
"Perhaps Mini-Dit can help out. Mini-Dit, transform!"
Her second Ditto who had been watching Duplica work all this time quickly jumps into action. With one quick look at Duplica's back, Mini-Dit transforms into a perfect copy of Duplica's own wings. Duplica carefully takes the new wings and places them on her Ditto's back, clapping her hands when the image is complete.
"See, like that, just like how Mini-Dit looks right now. Do you think you can manage that, Ditto?"
The Ditto nods and looks hopeful whilst Mini-Dit turns back to normal and goes back to watching the two. Duplica takes her place opposite Ditto and smiles, clenching her hands into fists and excitedly encouraging her Ditto along.
"Right! We'll both work on improving together! Wings or no wings, we can manage anything if we try. And with Mini-Dit helping us we're sure to get it eventually. Let's give it another go!"
Ditto reverts back before trying the transformation again, turning into a copy of Nurse Joy with one pink wing. That's progress! The fact Ditto was trying hard to learn to transform properly all over again was enough to spur Duplica on to work even harder at her own imitations. The next performance they put on was sure to be the best one yet!
